How this is calculated
Belongings & Special Limits Check
Compares your estimated total contents value with your contents limit (or a typical 50–70%-of-Coverage-A range when the contents limit is unknown), then lists the typical per-category sub-limits for each valuables category you hold.
Step by step
- When you know your Coverage C, the comparison uses it directly; otherwise a typical range of 50–70% of Coverage A is shown.
- Each selected category is matched to a typical standard-policy sub-limit (e.g. theft of jewelry, watches and furs $1,500, theft of firearms $2,500, theft of silverware $2,500, cash $200, electronics used for business or kept in a vehicle $1,500).
- Collectibles and fine art are not standard-form special limits. Some carriers cap them, so their figures are carrier-specific and shown as illustrative only.
- Categories are informational flags — the tool does not value your items.

Important disclosures
- This tool is educational only. It illustrates potential exposure using the assumptions shown — it is not insurance advice, a price, or an offer of coverage, and it does not determine whether any coverage amount is right for you. Policy language varies; review your actual policy and discuss your situation with a licensed insurance professional.
- Sub-limit figures shown are typical policy sub-limits for standard homeowners forms — your policy sets its own limits, perils, and definitions. Categories marked carrier-specific are not standard-form limits at all. Check your policy.
- The 50–70% Coverage C range is a typical policy structure, not a statement about how much contents coverage fits your situation.
Now that you can see the method, the numbers are worth a conversation.
